David & Cyril Tagteam - Luke 24:13-35 (Road to Emmaus)

“How in all the moments of our lives do we stop ourselves and recognize him and get swept away into conversation and communion with Jesus Christ? It's time for us to start admitting that our hearts burn within us. It's time for us to start admitting that we need God even in the places where we're acting like we don't. It's time for us to stop pretending. Stop pretending you don't know you want something that needs something better than what you've got. Time to start admitting that no matter how good you've gotten and drowning it out, there's a good piece of you still that is always and still wishing for God and burning and fluttering because he's close. There's a part of you wishing for the life that comes from God. That's for all of us. No contact with God through Christ at all. No one about Jesus for 20 minutes, no one about Jesus for 20 years, no one about Jesus for a whole lifetime. It's for all of us, because all humans in some way or another are still hanging on to little bits of ourselves. Still hanging on to things, and we don't want to let go, even though we know deep down that those things that we're hanging on to are precisely the things that are not moving forward, precisely not the things that are blooming to life in us. We all need this, always, all of us, asking ourselves, why don't I see Jesus here yet? And when I find him here, I move on to the next of it and ask myself again, why don't I see Jesus here yet? And when I find him there, I ask it again. How do I see Jesus here yet?”
