Luke 15:8-10

“The Kingdom of Heaven is a matter of searching for the lost. The lost. … And many times I think we subconsciously deny this concept of lostness. We really worry about those people who are not living their life in communion with God. Have we lost the sense of the horrible alienation that comes from not being in God's hand? We don't like to think about our friends as lost. We don't like to think about our parents as lost. We don't like to think about our co-workers as lost. But if we really dare to take the Bible seriously, we have to really understand just how lost people are. After reading these passages, we turn on our television or we go to the movies and we start to realize just how lost our society is. Let us stop the denial. Let us look at our beloved world the way that God looks at it. With true love, true compassion and a deep sorrow over its condition of lostness. Jesus describes the world as lost, but it's not because he hates it or he scorns it.”
