Epic Fail! Mess-ups of Biblical Proportions
3 sermons by Rev. Dr. Cyril Guerette in the series Epic Fail! Mess-ups of Biblical Proportions, preached 2016, with audio and a quote from each.
Not every character in Scripture could be considered a success or a hero. There are many biblical mess-ups and missteps, some from a human perspective, others from a divine. What can we learn when we look at epic failures in the Bible? We see a disciple miss out on apostolic glory by a hair, a long-haired train wreck somehow still used by God, a disciple Jesus hand-picked turn to the dark side, and a morally questionable woman become an effective evangelist. These are the stories of real people relating to a real God in the midst of social and spiritual collapse. Each of their lives gives insight into how God looks at our mistakes and misfortune, and calls us to look at failure in a new perspective.
