The Cost of Following Jesus
Jesus replied, "No one who puts a hand to the plow and looks back is fit for service in the kingdom of God."
“This is the way the kingdom works. I'm king. I must come first. If the king said — here — come join me. I want you in my circle. You need to come right now. You would go — and your family would understand. Guess what? The king is here. Of the universe. He's saying — come now. I must be your first priority. … This is all about identity, by the way. Who do I identify as? Am I a follower of Jesus? Or am I a good family man? Am I a good — look — so many good things I could be. Am I a good disciple? That's the very first thing. Am I a follower of Jesus? You know what? … You are dealing with the king of the universe. Are you really going to follow him? If you don't — you don't get it. You don't get who he is. You don't understand the mission.”
His charge, that Sunday
“Now — let us chew a little bit today.”
