Christmas Eve Service (2020)

“Christmas is about family. Embrace your family. Even baby God needed his human family. Whatever part of a family you are, a son, a daughter, a mum or dad, an aunt or an uncle, a brother or sister, a friend that's been grafted into a family. However you are related to others, you need to thank God for it. What he's giving you. Love your family, just like Jesus, and I know for some people this is hard. And families are always the easiest thing, but we recognize that God gives family. Just like He gave to Jesus and to Mary and to Joseph. We need to love our family, just like they did. Even if they're hard people to love, the father sent his only begotten son. Do you catch his family language? I think God himself fathers. This is amazing how family is a part of who he is. In himself, apart from all of creation, he's still his Father, Son, Spirit. This beautiful familial relationship, and this leads you to the second thing I want to tell you, which is a spiritual family. We need to love our family. The family's God gave us, and it's not always easy. But we also need to love our spiritual family. … Remember that Jesus had his adopted dad. His dad wasn't his flesh and blood, and yet this father was the one who raised him. This is the reality. God is telling us that just like he adopted us into his family, we are able to adopt each other into our family.”
