The New Deal #1: Written on The Heart

“The new deal is so much better than the other one. God replaced the old deal. He made it into something better. So why do we keep living as if the old deal is active? Ask yourself, how can I start to live in the reality of the new deal? It's been time with God. You lay him working in my heart. I need to stop doing and just start listening. What about as a church? How does this all act? Am I keep the law, keep this rule, keep the commandment type of person? Type of church? What would happen if drug dealers and prostitutes came into our churches? Would we thank God for them? Or would we think our main job was just changing the behavior rather than letting their hearts catch on fire with Jesus? Would we love them? And let God change them from the inside out? Or would we be starting just immediately to attack them and tell them what they had to do? God just wants us coming after him, pursuing a relationship with him. Yes, he wants us to change into the reality that was the beautiful picture of what humanity is supposed to be but he wants to do it from within. Do we point at Jesus and say, there he is, get closer to him or do we point to ourselves and say, there's the sin. I must stop myself or God will not love me. Truly, like deeply in your heart, do you see God as a love first and foremost type God? Or is he a do good, do good?”
