To Boldly Go Local (Jerusalem) [Jeremiah 29:4-7]

“And also seek the peace and the prosperity of the city to which I've called you into exile. Seek the peace and prosperity. … We're not saying that just have faith and God will give you a Mercedes. Now, what this is trying to say here, is you personally should be seeking the peace and the prosperity of the city. Now, peace and prosperity covers one word. There's not two words in the original Hebrew. In the original Hebrew, the word is such a powerful word that we need two words in English to cover it. That word is Shalom. When we think of the word peace, and a lot of times we translate Shalom peace, we think of the word peace. Usually what we're thinking of is lack of fighting. Right? There was a conflict and now there's peace.”
