“I started thinking but why am I disappointed? Or even maybe a better way to put the question is, what's tripping me up? Why am I tripping over this stone? Why am I scandalized by this stumbling block? And I think about it, and I'm wondering, maybe I'm putting my hope in the wrong things. Like even when I hope in Jesus, Am I hoping in Jesus doing this, and this, and this? Hoping in Jesus making this plan work that I have worked on so hard? Am I really hoping in Jesus, or am I hoping in this thing that I need Jesus to somehow do for me? You can even hope sometimes in God for a bad reason.”
