The Story of Job
“All that God asks from Job is that he trusts in his wisdom anyways, despite not knowing the answer to the question why he suffered, and sometimes our best role as friends is just to sit there and allow the person to cry out in pain. You know what? Sometimes your friend might even yell at God, scream at God in anger. The good thing is that God's big God can take it, He took it from Job. He won't hold it against us that in our anger and our bitterness, we yelled at God. We always lash out at the ones that we love when we're hurt. Now, at the same time, I think the book of Job also teaches us that just because we suffer does not mean that it's God's fault. We're not allowed to say that God personally attacked us, That's the, voice that God echoes. Would you condemn me to justify yourself? So in the midst of your pain, be careful of that sin. It's an easy sin to fall into. You know that you're, you haven't done anything wrong. Then you lash out at God. Would you condemn God in order to justify yourself? See, I, I have to admit, I've yelled at God in the middle of my pain before. I've screamed at him, I've blamed him, but it was when I came out of that, raging grief, I had to admit, like Job, that I really didn't know what I was talking about when I blamed God for it. We have to be very careful that we don't condemn God for the suffering that we go through.”Browse the full sermon archive →
