The Word
Ill Seer's words and vocal on Hymns For The Architect's “The Word” (X, 2018); the words are from his Sermon 109, “The Poetic Word” (Advent 2010). Appears on: Hymns For The Architect.
In the Beginning was the Word. (Word)
The eminent transcendent vertices met
the imminent immanent horizon of earth you see,
The Word added to itself the beginning of ‘letters’
and the Wor(l)d was born.
The world is poetry.
The land’s a stanza, the terrain a refrain.
quality and quantity are quatrains,
The waters rain reign awash in words.
Space is a keystroke bracketed by textual in(ter)vention.
The plants are rants and the animals alpha-numerals.
Existence both nominal and numinal.
Every metre of this planet, has meter like a sonnet.
And God’s Word the Son walked on it.
The Light of the World was the Word.
God spoke, and the spokes of the world’s wheel went whirling.
The work, the Word, the ArchPoet,
the world architect-poet.
The Creation was born out by the Logos Sophia,
but the Wisdom was lost by humanity in their desperate act
to rip the knowledge of Good and Evil from the Divine.
And in the process bad poetry ensued:
Dissonance replaced innocence,
Resistance displaced assistance.
The Earth itself turned against us.
The words we spoke began to choke,
We were Forlorn amongst the thorns,
Born of the Lord
But torn by the sword.
The fine lines of time declined.
And our language was strangled.
At Babel we babbled and lost our game of Scrabble.
We dabbled in cabals and became rabble.
Because we abused it,
The Lord himself confused our language.
He refused our derangement.
And as we divided into various tongues,
Look at how nefarious we’ve become.
Murder and War, basically base.
Repulsion, reprobation, repugnant, revolting.
Villains, killings, self-willing, blood-spilling.
Stabbing, shooting, looting, annihilation exhilaration.
Assassination, procrastination, castration, exacerbation.
The lack of satisfaction from the factions, reactions, detractions, retractions, lacking.
Under the weight of our words we’re cracking.
The Creation was put under sedation at our sedition.
And each edition of our extraordinary rendition ends in emaciation not satiation.
Thanks to the hating Satan.
But Thanks be to God for the Incarnation!
Wisdom itself, in its wisdom, decided to walk amongst us.
The Poet entered His Poem.
The Word entered his World of words.
They gave to us a new one, Christmas.
God’s mind entered in space-time to be the divine rhyme.
And God entered you, so you could be the most gorgeous poem,
to take the time to get to know him.
In the Beginning was the Word,
And in the end we are God’s words to the world. (Word)
