Guard Your Heart
“He's equipped us to fight against the sin in a new way because no longer do we have the heart of stone, we have a heart of flesh because he gives us the Holy Spirit. We are unique in humanity. This last 2,000 years is the only time that humans had the living God living within them. It's a powerful thing if you think about that. Creating me a clean heart, oh God. The heart of flesh, and Ezekiel 11, 19, says, I will give them an undivided heart. I'll put a new spirit in them. I'll remove from them their heart of stone and give to them a heart of flesh. It's beautiful, a living, beating heart, and that is the Holy Spirit. The new covenant is a covenant that's written on your heart, and the prophet, Jeremiah, by the way, talks about it. He knew what the cure was going to be. He didn't just have it. He's someday we're going to have our hearts of stone replaced with the heart of flesh. Both Ezekiel and Jeremiah make these prophecies. It's a powerful thing. So how do we tap into this reality of the Holy Spirit? You need to spend time with God. To recognize the Holy Spirit is there, and to listen to His voice, which is always going to align with Scripture. That's how we know it's real. Because one of the problems we have is trying to hear from the Spirit and Him or not. The Spirit will always align with the Scriptures. Spend time with God. Pray and meditate. Enter into whatever spiritual disciplines help open up the room for the Holy Spirit to speak to you.”Browse the full sermon archive →
