Spur Each Other On

And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
— Hebrews 10:24–25
“We need to be doing that for each other, because we all have those moments when we're the ones weeping over what was, or what we don't see is going to be. And we all need someone to say, "Hey, look what God has ahead for us." Give hope, love, peace, joy. Spur each other on to good deeds. "Hey, let's do this together. Let's serve these people. Let's worship God together." Spur each other on. Now, one of the ways we spur each other — I know what it says there: "Do not be in the habit of giving up meeting together," right? "Do not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing." You guys got to meet together. It's Paul saying, if you want to be community, if you want to be formed by community, you need to meet together. There's no two ways about it. You have to gather with other Christians. I think that's really important. … A lot of people got used to sleeping in. A lot of people got used to the pajamas, and bringing pajamas to church. And I get some are still worried about the health implications, and those are things that we got to work through together. I would say I don't think fear can always be our chief driver. There's going to be a time where we have to go, "Oh" — because it's always going to be possible that you'll get a sickness from someone if you gather. And it's always going to be there. Now, during COVID it was a different situation. We didn't know what we're dealing with, and it was dangerous stuff, and people were dying. So there was reasons why the government shut things down. But we have to realize, at some point we're going to gather.”
