Truth vs Love

“One of the most dangerous things that can happen is when the church speaks the truth was just that edge of anger and hatred in its voice. … Is it actually done in love? Now, I do believe Jesus uses his own prophets and we'll talk a little bit about how he does things. But I do want to say we have to be really careful that we speak the truth in love. Now, being the truth in love, by the way, isn't just saying truthful things really nicely. Be really nice all the time. I don't believe that that's what speaking truth in love means. Sometimes speaking truth in love is going to be a hard word. It's actually going to be conflict. That's something I think I've had to grow with in my life is like sometimes conflict happens and avoiding it isn't speaking the truth in love. … Yes, but doesn't mean that you don't stand up and speak truth.”
