Reflecting Perfection Part 3: Maturity & Self-control

“Jesus wants us to focus on allowing God to grow us wiser over time as we reflect the perfection of Christ in our lives. We need to mature in stature and wisdom, just like Jesus did in favor with God and humanity. We need to become mature in the gospel. To truly reflect the perfection of Jesus, we need to be mature in the gospel to grow and mature in the stature of spirituality. Everyone in the community, whether it's a pastor, whether it's a small group leader, an elder, a deacon, a ministry leader, a faithful friend, everyone is called to grow in maturity in the gospel of Christ. In fact, God gave us all these positions. He says in Ephesians 4, to prepare God's people for works of service so that the body of Christ may be built up until we reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attain the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.”
