Prince of Peace, God of War 3\u2028: Is Yahweh primarily a God of War?

“But my point is, my loyalty to God is first. Because God ultimately is the master of all the nations, and we gotta get that clear. For God first, I'm on God's team, and God has his own plans. God has his own picture of what he wants to have happen, and I better be on side when that comes. God isn't serving Israel. He's not serving the USA. He is the one whom we are serving. There should be no reliance on human violence, and so I hope we've put some pictures together of the first time we talked about this. We're talking about the New Testament in Jesus, his pictures where he talks about loving enemies. He's undercutting this human bend towards violence, and then we talked about the Old Testament the last two weeks. … There's text that makes us re-question this whole picture of a war God. … We start to recognize as Christians we are at the service of God and he calls us to love our enemies.”
