The Great Commission

“Notice what he says here, because we're not just telling people to accept the power of Christ, then we teach them, and teaching them, this is what it means to make a disciple. Teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you, and surely I am with you always to the very end of the age. What did you just say, obey and command? … There's no commandments. No, Jesus' last word is obey what I command. How does that reconcile with the gospel of grace? Well, it reconcile completely, because it's not that you obey this commandment gives you a ticket to heaven. What's happening is when you receive the grace of the forgiveness of the life of Jesus Christ, when you receive that for real, that transforms you, and you start becoming more like Jesus, and you start wanting to, and you start obeying His commands.”
