David & Cyril Tagteam - Proverbs 26:4-5
“The Bible itself plunders the Egyptians. Does that make sense? It tells us to plunder the Egyptians. It plunders the Egyptians. Literally. Why? How can this be? How can ancient Egyptians write something that ends up in the Bible? Well, it's basically based on this principle. It's an ancient Christian principle that is true for all of eternity. You've heard us say it before and we'll say it again. All truth is God's truth. See, if something is wise, if a saying is wise, it's God's wisdom that's shining through. Whether it's found in Scripture itself, or as whether it's as simple as crime doesn't pay, or a stitch in time saves nine. These are wise Proverbs that are true because they're God's truth. They come through the truth of God. Anything that you've seen this world, if you see anything that's true, anything that tells things as they actually are in the concrete, existing world. If it's true, it comes from God. If it's true, it is in God himself. Anything that rings of truth, this is from the hand of God. I can't say it enough. God is the author of all truth. All truth is God's truth. You see, that makes sense if you start to think about the fear of the Lord as a beginning of wisdom. Well, if all truth is God's truth, of course, all wisdom comes from knowing God. See, without God, you have no hope of being wise. We see this in Psalm 141. It actually says, the fool says in his heart, there is no God. See the fool? The fool refuses to accept that the truth that he has, because even the fool has some truth, but that truth that he has comes from the hand of God.”Browse the full sermon archive →
