The Hospitable, Missional, Discipling Jesus
9 sermons by Rev. Dr. Cyril Guerette in the series The Hospitable, Missional, Discipling Jesus, preached 2015, with audio and a quote from each.
Across 2015, FreeChurch Toronto followed a single thread through the Gospels and the book of Acts: the Hospitable, Missional, Discipling Jesus. We began the year in the Gospels, watching Jesus welcome the unlikely and call disciples who didn't look the part — fishermen, a tax collector, women, a Samaritan outsider, a nobleman's desperate son. After pausing for Lent to sit with the cost of that calling, we picked the thread back up at Easter and followed it into the book of Acts, where the same hospitable, missional, disciple-making Spirit that filled Jesus now fills his young church: healing at the Beautiful Gate, refusing to stop the mission under pressure, and learning to belong to one another even through conflict. It's one story in two halves — Jesus calling, and his Body carrying that calling forward.
