Jesus loved the world so much he gave his life up for it! He calls us to do the same. In the hours before his arrest, Jesus prayed a prayer in John 17 that has become known as the High Priestly Prayer. It was a heartfelt plea to the Father to continue to bring eternal life to the world through himself, and to protect, send, and unify his followers. Jesus wanted us to know God better, and become more like him through his true Word. This long and powerful prayer didn’t come from a vacuum, but out of Jesus’ own life experiences and his years spent growing closer with friends and disciples. We will delve into some of his personal stories that informed each section of his prayer, learning where his passion came from, and just how much he was willing to give his life for the sake of the world. This Lent season, join us in exploring Christ’s heart for the world through his High Priestly prayer.
