Exiled
2 sermons by Rev. Dr. Cyril Guerette in the series Exiled, preached 2017, with audio and a quote from each.
Since the first baby-steps of the early church, Christians have not felt at home in the World. As “exiles of the Dispersion”, we cannot expect an easy ride in a culture that can often fear or loathe our devotion to Christ. The incredible letter known as 1 Peter is addressed to the “elect resident aliens” scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia. Written in an era where the powers that be were often hostile to the way to Jesus, those of us scattered in post-Christian Oakville, Burlington, Milton, Waterdown, and Hamilton can relate. Each week of this series we will delve into the deep wisdom of a single chapter of this ancient letter, and discover how to live lives that point to God in front of our co-workers and neighbours, even though we are ultimately just sojourners and pilgrims on the way to the new Creation.
