Empowered by the Spirit
1 sermon by Rev. Dr. Cyril Guerette in the series Empowered by the Spirit, preached 2020, with audio and a quote from each.
As Jesus was taken up into the heavenly realms, He left a promise that, in His absence, the Spirit would come to empower those who followed Him. This promise was fulfilled in dramatic fashion when the Holy Spirit came upon the early church with signs and wonders. More than that, the Holy Spirit, came to indwell each individual believer, bestowed on them unique spiritual gifts, and guided them to serve one another in a manner to bring a supernatural unity into the spiritual community. This summer we will explore the downpayment Jesus gave us as evidence of the future fulfillment of the Kingdom of God - the third person of the Trinity who resides inside each and every believer. The goal is to continue to allow the Spirit to guide each of us individually, and as a community, into the fullness of the life He wants for us as citizens with a supernatural power to bring peace and love to our society.
