Humble Yourself and Pray

If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
— 2 Chronicles 7:14
“Some of — you — things he's gonna — if you pray this — let's pray, "God, show me how you see me" — so, these things he's gonna show you are gonna be negative. I'm gonna tell you — you're gonna see your failures. You're gonna see your character flaws. He's gonna lay it all out there. It's not easy, okay? But be humble. There's a purpose to this. It's to help you get a realistic view of who you are. And what's more, he says, in — responses — you see these things come to you: confess your sins. Confessing sins isn't about, "Oh, I'm so scum." It's actually to remind you of the amazing grace of God. "O Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner. Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner. Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner." That's the Jesus Prayer. May that — part of our regular life. Why? Not to make yourself — but because you know you need the mercy of God. This is what we need. The grace of God is there. It's free. It's freeing. It's uplifting.”
