Left with Peace - John 14:27
“Jesus came to bring peace. The story that we have, we just saw, it's a picture of that. He wanted to bring peace to us. He actually says, as he's facing the cross, he says this to his disciples. Peace, I leave with you. My peace, I give you. I do not give as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled. Do not be afraid. As he closed this sermon off in John 1633, he says this, I have told you these things so that in me, you may have peace. In this world, you will have trouble. But take heart. I have overcome the world. This is a beautiful picture that Christ gives us. He's actually giving to us peace. He's facing the crucifixion. He knows he's walking towards his death and yet he talks about peace. He had just actually blown upon the disciples as a sign of the coming of the Holy Spirit, and we know that the Holy Spirit brings with him peace. And so what we hear from his patches is, if we follow Jesus, we don't even stop to look for peace. We have peace. Within us, it is in our hearts, the Holy Spirit of God, residing in us gives us this true peace.”Browse the full sermon archive →
