July 13, 2014 · Psalm 51:10–12 (KJV)
Create in Me a Clean Heart
Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from your presence, O Lord, and take not your Holy Spirit from me. Restore unto me the joy of your salvation, and renew a right spirit within me.
“All we have is him. All we have is his grace. And we can hope that he will return it to us. Continue to call to him. Restore to me the joy of my salvation. Because only God can forgive the evil that's built up between you and him. I talked about the Holy Spirit. … He's there. He's in you. But it's become so dark that you have to let him start to repair the other parts around it — and slowly you'll start to hear him speaking in that one area in your life. And so we have to recognize that all we have is God. Only God can come in and clean your heart. Only God can stoop down and restore the joy of your salvation. Only God can give you a period of renewal — making you become new. So we have to call out to him.”
His charge, that Sunday
“Let us be a community that truly believes in grace.”
